THIS NAMELESS SPECTACLE
The title of the film originates from ‘The Right of Way’, a poem written in 1923 by William Carlos Williams which deals with the ‘fixed moving gaze.’ The title also refers to the pictorial genre of the panorama, which is central to the film. This kind of wide view of a physical space is embodied in the double projection of the film that surrounds the spectator, revisiting the ‘illusionist window’.
Jesper Just’s films question the language of cinema. His films establish a dark and strange atmosphere, which invites you to a suspended universe, where the mechanisms of fantasy are unfolded.
